Neurofeedback therapy is aimed at restoring healthy brainwave activity. Addictions to chemicals alone or in combination with other factors such as head trauma are known to injure the brain. When the brain is injured abnormal brainwaves can be permanently transmitted causing a range of physical, mental, and behavioral disorders.
Neurofeedback is non-invasive. Brainwaves are displayed on a computer screen from electrodes placed on specific sites on the head. We learn, then to modify these patterns willfully through audio and visual aids, re-establishing and reinforcing optimal brainwave patterns, resulting in the diminishment of symptoms.
This therapy is an ideal adjunct to the core programming at Rio de Esperanza which focuses on re-structuring the way we use thoughts, choices, and behaviors (i.e., brain activity). Neurofeedback offers a highly sophisticated technological therapeutic lever to restoring control – toward realizing a new Life Circle.
